Just think, if you need to produce a ‘film’ or ‘drama’ to earn more fans with profits you should find a team with multitalented professionals in relevant fields. 

Such as actors of a variety of ages, skin colors, and body shapes; Makeup artists, costume designers, scriptwriters, cameramen, and many more make your film or drama as you wish.

This means you need to use a variety of people to accomplish your goal successfully, called Diversity.

 

How can we define Diversity?

In simple words, ‘diversity’ can define as variety or difference. By the organizational side, it means the difference between two or more individuals or items.

The word ‘Diversity’ comes from the Latin diversus or diversitas, meaning both ‘various’ and ‘contrariety’. In English and French, this duality of meaning carried on, as ‘diversity’ refers to a “fact of the difference between two or more this or kinds.”

The CIPD (2018a) states that each one of us is exclusive. We are different in both detectable and undetectable ways and have different characteristics including personality, background, language, age, ethnicity, disability, gender, etc.

Harrison and Klein (2007) describe as diversity popularly a synonym of difference; it is associated with the construct of separation, variety, and disparity.

In addition, diversity is defined by Esty (1995) as the recognition, comprehension, acceptance, and value of individual differences in terms of age, class, race, ethnicity, gender, and disabilities.

 

What is ‘Workforce Diversity’?

 

 


 

Workforce Diversity can define simply as a collection of employees in an organization with varieties and similarities including age, gender, ethnicity, religion, experience, qualifications, values, behaviors, attitudes, and many more qualities. The workforce will be more diversified when more differences occur among the employees.

 

Why is Workforce Diversity important to the Organization?

If the management can apply the most suitable decisions to control workforce diversity correctly and strategically, the outcome will be amazing and it will be a new era for the entire organization. Several most important benefits can identify as,

Increasing of profits

Profit is the most important target of any organization other than social services organizations. Diversity in an organization creates various interests, performances, arguments, and opinions and it leads the organization to make correct decisions to increase profits.

 

Maximize production

Making diversity in the workforce a priority without a negative atmosphere in the organization results maximize production. Doors are open for various unique ideas, and new passions lead to excellent outcomes, by increasing production to fulfill the organizational targets.

 

The Way to Better and Newer Ideas

Workplace diversity increases the likelihood of creativity. This results from blending various viewpoints and ideas to produce an entirely new concept or innovation. Therefore, the organization should provide the most suitable ways for those talents to achieve the target from the beginning.

 

Multiple Solutions for the best answer

Diversity makes multiple solutions for an issue in multiple ways. Therefore, better decision-making results from incorporating diversity into the workplace. When contrasted with people who pursue business choices, a different group can settle on better choices and tackle numerous issues. They can give improved arrangements and advantages to the working environment from their fluctuating characteristics.

    1. Yes. First of all the management should get clear understanding of the reality of the organization in both positive and negative sides. Then the management can identify the areas to be addressed for the improvements. Diversity can use to find solutions within the organization for these improvements. It helps to mortivate employees by giving them to improve themselves other than third party's approach.

    1. Thanks for your question. Every thing has two sides as a coin. Diversity also has both advantages and disadvantages too. Main point is the final target or the goal that organization need to achieve. The organization can use training and development theories together with Diversity to enhance the skills of such passive skilled employees. Resources for the training and development can be identified through the Diversity and can be used in practice. Diversity theories can apply to understand the skills, variations, attitudes, and other important areas of employees in the organization and it can be used to understand the importance and shortcomings of the organisation to be improved positively to get more advantages to the organisation.
